» What should I be aware of while using a Projector in my Presentation?
There are several things that you should be aware of during your presentation if you are using a projector. They include the following:
- Watch where you stand. When giving a presentation, be sure that you do not stand between the projector and the screen. If you do, all the audience will be able to see is your shadow, and this can be very distracting to your presentation.
- Prepare for smooth transitions. If you are using a Power Point, there are remotes available that allow you to change slides from wherever you are standing by pushing a button. If one is not available, get an assistant to transition the slides for you.
- Keep eye contact with audience. During your presentation, refrain from glancing back at the projector screen. Continually looking at the screen not only distracts the audience, but also lessens your credibility. If you cannot go through your presentation without looking at the screen, your audience may interpret that as you lacking knowledge. Know your facts and quotes well enough that you can look at the audience while you say them.
- Never apologize. If at some point in your presentation the projector messes up, simply pause for a moment to fix the problem, and move on. Apologizing during a presentation often gives of an impression that you are nervous.
