» What does a Commercial Cleaning Service do?
Commercial cleaning services provide an assortment of services. The most common daily janitorial duties include:
- Vacuuming and mopping regular walkways
- Sweeping debris
- Cleaning and dusting desktops
- Washing interior windows
- Disposing trash
- Bathrooms maintenance – mopping, scrubbing, replenishing consumables)
A commercial cleaning service will perform any number of these tasks depending on your company’s needs. If you have a small company, you may only need trash takeout a couple of times a week and an occasional vacuuming. Larger organizations, or companies that frequently host clients in their offices, may choose a daily cleaning where everything is maintained.
Most cleaning services will be able to clean any type of commercial facility. There are certain industries - especially healthcare – that have specific cleaning requirements. If applicable, make sure the cleaning service you are interviewing is well educated on how to clean your environment before granting any contracts.
In addition to basic cleaning, many commercial cleaning services will provide special tasks. These special services range from the labor intensive like stripping and waxing tile floors to those that extend the life of expensive office furniture. Special cleaning services may take several hours and even days, depending on the size and difficulty of the project. These services can include:
- Washing exterior windows
- Pressure washing outside of building
- Cleaning parking lots
- Cleaning every crevice of a facility
- Dusting ceilings and light fixtures
- Grouting tiles
- Carpet extracting
- Maintaining heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment
Special services may need to be set up well in advance to give the cleaners enough time to accomplish the task without disturbing work areas or employees. Some commercial cleaning services require a contract for regular cleaning services before special services can be performed. If you are interested in a temporary arrangement or one-time service, you may have to search for a cleaning service that will take the job.
