These easy-to-follow tips can significantly reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS):
• The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends always putting your baby to sleep on his back to reduce the risk of (SIDS).
• You should use sleep clothing that is warm enough to let baby sleep without a blanket that could potentially cover his face in the middle of the night. If you must use a blanket, tuck a thin blanket around the crib mattress and don’t let the blanket come higher than the baby’s chest.
• Only allow one baby to sleep in a crib at a time.
• Make sure the mattress you have chosen is firm.
Although there is not a set age when children are to graduate to a “big kid bed,” children should be taken out of the crib by the time they reach 35 inches tall.
