Once your baby is able to exert head and neck muscle control, it may be time to consider buying a baby walker or a stationary play center to provide baby a new source of entertainment. These baby toys will give baby a new perspective on things, allowing baby to see the world go by from the standing position instead of sitting or lying on the floor.
Walkers and Stationary Play Centers (commonly referred to as Exersaucers) give baby’s lower torso and legs some support as they stand in a harness and are surrounded by a circular plastic tray hosting stimulating toys. Walkers allow the child to actually become mobile by pedaling their feet while the toy moves on wheels. Exersaucers have no wheels and are completely stationary, which is the obviously safer choice of the two.
Walkers and exersaucers can aid in the development of some coordination and muscle skills, but walkers have not been proven to actually help baby learn to walk on his own any earlier. Walkers and exersaucers can also give parents the opportunity to enjoy baby mastering new skills through discovering how each toy operates on the walkers and saucers, while giving themselves a bit of a break.
