Trondelag divides The North from the rest of Norway and consists of the two most important agricultural counties in the country. The mining town of Roros is Norway’s only mountain city.
From its rocky coastline in the north via deep forests at the Swedish border to a vast mountain are in the south, Trondelag has a wide range of nature. Trondelag is famous for its salmon rivers, especially Namsen. Trondelag’s two counties, North Trondelag and South Trondelag are the two most important agricultural counties in Norway.
Beyond the wide, open spaces towards the Swedish border in the east and the Dovre plateau to the south, stretch expansive mountain plains and majestic mountains. The northern part of the coast is strewn with both large and small islands and the sea is quite rough here. Further south are the islands Froya and Hitra, from where the Trondheimsfjord reaches 130 miles inland to Steinkjer. There are several good salmon and sea trout rivers in this country, including the famous Namsen.
