North Carolina has a long history. During that time there have been many “firsts” in the state:
• The University of North Carolina was the first public university to open its doors in the United States.
• Babe Ruth hit his first professional home run in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
• Home of the first English colony. It was located on Roanoke Island.
• North Carolina was the home of the first gold rush.
• Home of the first natural habitat zoo in the United States.
• In 1898 the first Pepsi was made and served in New Berne, North Carolina.
• The first x-ray was made in Greensboro, NC.
The North Carolina motto is, “esse quam videri,” which means “To be rather than to seem.” This quote is from Cicero’s essay on friendship.
And what a great motto for a state whish offers so much for living life to the fullest.
