The volunteers who will be participating in the fundraiser are your most important asset. Making them feel as if they are part of the planning process and that they make a difference to the project will go a long way towards motivating them to work hard. Consider the following suggestions for motivating your participants and keeping them on track:
• As organizer, it is vital that you keep your enthusiasm up during the fundraising event. If you appear to be negative or unmotivated your volunteers will follow you in that attitude.
• Always greet the volunteers with a friendly face and thank them for helping.
• Maintain contact with your sellers throughout the campaign. Let them know you are interested in how their sales are going and willing to help. This aids in keeping everyone focused on the end goal.
• Reward your sellers for their hard work. Consider a competition between sellers with a prize of some type at the end of the sales campaign. Competition has proven to be a good motivation for getting out there and selling more product than anyone else in the group. The prize could be as simple as a pizza party for a class selling more than the other classes or cash prizes to individual sellers.
• Spending a little of your profit to increase sells will still put you ahead in the end. Sellers will work harder if they are given an incentive and this will in turn increase profits.
