On your first official day in Nicaragua, after a long flight in followed by a good night’s sleep, a trip to the Mombacho Volcano is recommended. This is an active volcano that allows tourists to travel up the side of the volcano and walk along the outer rim. The slopes of the volcano also have beautiful nature trails that tourists are encouraged to stroll down and enjoy the lush forests and active wildlife. If desired, a canopy tour can also be taken on this particular volcano. A canopy tour involves gliding from treetop to treetop while strapped into harnesses that are attached to zip lines. This is truly an incredible experience and one that many people thoroughly enjoy and wish to repeat again. It allows you to see the forest of the volcano from an entirely different view. In the afternoon, if time allows, you may want to do a little bit of light shopping in the local markets of Managua. For dinner, a restaurant in Managua called La Plancha is recommended. The food is wonderful; and, the atmosphere is very relaxing.
