The length of the tour lasts around 5 ½ hours and it begins with a 40 minute trip to Glenorchy where a local guide will take you down the vast river whilst enjoying the surrounding mountain peaks and here you will be told stories of the first settlers in the area. Once you head ashore then you have the change to take part in a guided bushwalk where you can learn more about the surrounding area and during all the excitement, you can enjoy a Stockman’s barbecue with traditional Billy Tea. To avoid disappointment, you need to book the trip at least 48 hours in advance and prices are excellent for all the history and facilities that are included, for adults $143 and for children $71.
