Due to the large number of cities throughout the entire length of New Zealand, it is not a mainstream farming community with just 6% of arable land but a reasonable sum has been made for the local economy and mostly ground products are grown such as potatoes, vegetables but also wheat, barely and various dairy products and meats.

Out of all the economical factors throughout the country, only 10% of the annual income is due to the importing and exporting of agricultural produce but with the majority of areas being city based it is just one source of income that joins other more advanced industries.
