Today you will find that New Zealand is made up of a variety of different ethnic groups, whilst the most common were originally just New Zealanders and Maori’s, in the 1970’s there was a large number of Pacific immigrants that arrived in the area.
Shortly after this time, throughout the 80’s and 90’s the list of different minorities grew longer and with Asians and Europeans arriving in the area, this did have its benefits to the country.
The new arrivals contributed to the technological and economic changes and it gave a different look to New Zealand making it seem like a completely different country. As a result, locals have taken advantage of the technology market and today it is known for locals to be some of the biggest mobile phone and internet users in the world. With a higher literacy rate of 99% of the whole population, there are also known to read the most newspapers over any other country.
