If you need a resort destination that provides the complete get-away, the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa may be for you. This pueblo-style resort is set on the Santa Ana Pueblo in the hills above the Rio Grande Valley offers a 16,000 square-foot full-service spa and fitness center as well an 18-hole championship golf course. The resort is located 15 minutes from Albuquerque and 45 minutes from Santa Fe, giving you the serenity you may need for the perfect vacation. The guest rooms are large, and some have views of the Sandia Mountains while others have views of the courtyard’s pools and hot tub. Rates start at $200 in May – October and $135 from November through April. There are a plethora of activities on-site like hot-air balloon rides, horseback riding, carriage rides by the river, tennis, golf and even fine dining in the Corn Maiden restaurant.
If you’d like to stay a little closer to town, the Albuquerque Marriott Pyramid North is located 15-minutes from Old Town and downtown. This hotel has 10 floors grouped around an atrium and is shaped like an Aztec pyramid. The rooms were remodeled in 2003 and are somewhat spacious and each has a nice a view. There is an indoor/outdoor pool, exercise facility, Jacuzzi, sauna and convention center on-site. The rates start at $139 for a double and $140 for a suite. The hotel does offer special weekend rates and packages.
If you want to be in the center of the action in downtown Albuquerque, the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque offers luxury in an Art Deco atmosphere. The $60-million hotel opened in 1990 and offers an extensive original art collection, on-site restaurant, exercise facility, salon, car-rental desk, business center, pool and babysitting services. The rooms are large and most offer views of the mountainside. Also worth noting is the fact that the Hyatt is located right next door to the Galleria shopping mall. The rates start at $225 during the week and $105 on the weekend.
For a historic experience, the 1897 Queen Anne Mansion has been transformed into the Britannia and W. E. Mauger Estate Bed and Breakfast. This mansion was the first home in Albuquerque to have electricity, and now offers guest room with oval windows, hardwood floors and verandas. The bed and breakfast is located near downtown and rates start at $70.
