Lake Winnipesaukee is New Hampshire’s largest lake, with some 180 miles of shoreline. Weirs Beach is full of kid-friendly activities such as the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad, (offering scenic views of the area), Surf Coaster USA (a massive water park), and the Funspot (video games and more). These are not highbrow activities, to be sure. For that, head to the village of Wolfeboro, located on the opposite side of the lake from Weirs Beach. It is decidedly more upscale. It boasts beautiful 19th century architecture and charming shops in the downtown area. Several fun boat tours leave from the docks behind Wolfeboro’s Main Street

Dining in the Lakes Region:
The Crystal Quail has a prix-fixe menu, usually offering a choice between three entrées, one of which is always the signature quail or pheasant. Their vegetables are from an organic garden, and vegetarian dishes are available upon request. Abondante in the town of Meredith is a fabulous Italian deli.
