You may picture yourself walking through green pastures on a path between two fields of dairy cows. In the horizon you can see 4 or 5 different windmills that make their home on almost every farm that you can see. To the west you see a greenhouse, where the famed Dutch tulips are grown perhaps by a man wearing wooden clogs. While some of this may be true about the Dutch countryside, if this is all you think of when you are imagining the nation of Netherlands then you are missing out on so much. There are so many different little things that you are missing out on so much of the diverse nation of Netherlands.
First there is the Dutch nation's capitol city of Amsterdam. If you fly into almost anywhere into central Europe you will probably connect in Amsterdam, plus there is the little issue of legal cannabis to make you think of this famous city. The Hague, while not the capitol of the country, is the seat of the government of Netherlands and the queen of the country. It is also the home to many of the medieval landmarks of the country. Rotterdam is one of the biggest cities in the nation and prides itself on their true "Dutch" culture mixed with a diverse international culture added in. Maastricht is wedged in between the nations of Belgium and Germany, and because of this sports an atmosphere that is unknown to many parts of the world.
