Maastricht may have one of the most beautiful locations simply because of the countries that surround it. It is located in the Southeastern corner of Netherlands, and is surrounded by Germany and Belgium. This brings into the city one of the most unique situations as the languages of the three countries coexist happily through commerce and recreation. It is the capital of the province of Limburg and is situated between the Meusse River. And it gets its name from the Latin translation of the bridge that went over the Meusse River.

Maastricht is also known as one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. Actually there is a little bit of a contention on whether this city is the oldest or the city of Nijmagen. The largest pulling point for tourism is the center square in the city named Markt. On Wednesdays and Saturdays there is an open market, but almost every afternoon and evening holds something new in this city square. With quite a few schools of higher education, Maastricht has become a student favorite through Europe. The large cosmopolitan has a small town flavor that makes it incredibly inviting to a lot of people.
