Totally awesome.

A Hungarian experiment of dispatching lone paramedics on motorcycles to highway accidents has proven to be a success, the Budapest Sun reports.

Regular ambulances in the country have a crew of a doctor and a medic driver, but a year ago, the government began testing the effectiveness of the one-man rescue units.

The 10 two-wheeling paramedics don't work during winter months but otherwise work 12-hour shifts and reach accidents as first responders much faster than regular ambulances, the newspaper said.

Like police, the paramedics' Yamaha motorcycles are equipped with flashing blue lights and sirens, although they are not permitted to exceed the highway speed limit of 110 mph, even on emergency calls.
