Day 1 - Getting Settled

Whether you drive to Kansas City or fly in and rent a car, it’s good to get a feel of how the cities (both Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City) are laid out. It’s not difficult, but it’s a little different than a lot of other cities. Driving around to major points you will be visiting with a map might not be a bad idea, because once you get a hang of the major road layouts, everything else is a lot simpler.

So if you get into town around two or three in the afternoon, check in to your hotel, freshen up and hit the town. What a better introduction to your vacation home than a sight-seeing driving tour and stopping for some Kansas City barbeque at Jack Stack or Arthur Bryant’s?

One possible activity for families is to count fountains throughout the vacation. Rome is the only city on earth with more fountains than Kansas City, have your children see how many they can find throughout the week.
