Like most cities, Kansas City offers a wide array of places to stay. You can find national chains, regional treasures and even a resort setting depending on where you are in the city.

Where you stay in Kansas City depends on where you plan on spending most of your time. If you’re coming to shop, you should stay downtown or on the more southern side in Shawnee, Olathe or Overland Park. If you’re coming for Worlds of Fun and/or Oceans of Fun, you’ll want to be on the north side. If you’re coming in for an event at the Kansas Speedway, you’ll want to be in Kansas City, Kansas area, Leavenworth or Tonganoxie. If you’re planning on catching a Chiefs or Royals game, you’ll want to stay to the far-east side in Independence or Blue Springs.

Kansas City hosts many events throughout the year including races, Major League Baseball and National Football League games, conferences and more. It’s a good idea to check local calendars to know if you’re going to have a lot of competition for room reservations or not.
