Project management is recognizing a goal and setting the standard by which that goal will be reached. While striving to reach the goal, project management takes into consideration many aspects and best use of resources that would be required to reach the task or goal at hand. This would include but not be limited to: materials, money, staff, time, etc. Usually, a particular project is begun and overseen by one individual with the entire responsibility of completion resting upon them. The person responsible for the project is called the project manager. The project manager is rarely involved with the actual working activities to produce the final result.
Project management is orchestrating the project with all of the tasks and individuals involved, limiting the percentage of time loss and failure. In project management, a project is temporary in nature because each project has a specific beginning and an end to produce the final result or product. The time required to complete any project in the beginning is typically set as a deadline for smaller projects. For larger, more time consuming projects a deadline can be set but most generally it is seen as an approximate deadline. A goal is then set to be reached within that time which continues with the oversight of the project manager.
