There are many neighborhoods in Los Angeles that offer modestly priced homes to out-of sight expensive mansions. Many neighborhoods are gated for privacy. There are historic neighborhoods where residents fight to keep older homes from being torn down to homes on the beach and homes with beautiful views of Los Angeles.

Beverly Hills: This neighborhood is located in the western section of Los Angeles. It is almost entirely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles. The landscape architect, Wilbur Cook, designed this town with large lots for homes and wide curving streets lined with tropical trees. In 1907, the housing boom began in Beverly Hills with houses dotting the landscape. A 3-bedroom house with 2-3 bathrooms in beautiful Beverly Hills will cost the buyer around $1,400,000 and up. If you require a house with 4-5 bedrooms you will find yourself in the $2 million price range. Some 3 bedroom homes that have been updated and have a pool could cost the homeowner $3,000,000. If you desire a larger lot, landscaping and a pool, the price shoots up to 4,000,000. A 5700 square foot house built in the 50’s with 7 bathrooms can cost $8,000,000. A beautiful house with 4 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms on a 39,000 square foot lot that was built in 1978 can cost $10,000,000. It is obvious to the buyer if one desires to live in Beverly Hills, you may need to have a rather fat wallet.

Bel-Air: This neighborhood is located in west Los Angeles. It is located about 12 miles from downtown LA. Homes in Bel-Air range from modest ranch homes to mansions. The higher up the mountain the more modest the homes but homeowners gain beautiful views. The most desirable homes are right off the main entrances and gates of Bel-Air. Lower Bel-Air homes can sell for over $20.There are not many homes available in Bel-Air that you can purchase for less than $1,000,000. A small 2-bedroom, 1-bath home can be purchased between $700,000-$950,000. Million dollar homes are in more desirable locations in Bel-Air with canyon views. Homes are a bit more affordable in Bel-Air as opposed to Beverly Hills. Bel-Air homes offer a little bit more bang for your buck. A home with 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms with granite countertops, Italian tile, hardwood floors and 2 fireplaces can be purchased for $1,695,000. A home in the gated old area of Bel-Air with a ½ acre of grounds and pool can cost over $5,250,000. An $18,000,00 includes 8 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, gourmet kitchen, a gym, children’s wing and a media screening room. A truly beautiful dwelling! An even more beautiful dwelling can be purchased for $30,000,000 in Old Bel-Air with golf course views. This home is 20,000 with a movie screening room, indoor spa, a gym and exercise studio. This home has all the amenities. For $53,000,000, one can purchase an estate on 3.2 acres. This home has inlaid onyx marble, 3 living rooms, guest accommodations and 5 main master suites.
