The computer application system (Warehouse Management System) is the cornerstone of the warehousing operation. In today’s changing warehousing industry, the application software must be flexible. The system must handle the ongoing changes mandated by the rapid evolution of warehousing and distribution.

Warehouse Management System - should have an application system that is highly adaptable and flexible. Hardware specifications and communication networks should map to defined requirements. The degree of fault-tolerant expectations should determine the number and location of servers.
Physical inventories and cycle counts should be easily accomplished through the Warehouse Management System.

Daily database backups should be written to tape and disc, enabling a rapid recovery of data in the event of disc failure.
