They can save you money on your electric bill, and they last longer than standard bulbs. In fact, Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs (CFL), which are a newer type of Energy Efficient bulb, can be screwed into a regular lamp and will last up to ten times longer than regular incandescent bulbs. They are also four times more efficient. Although they cost more than regular incandescent light bulbs, they make up for it by using less electricity and lasting longer.
If you replace one of the incandescent bulbs in your home with a CFL, it will keep a half-ton of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere throughout the life of the bulb. Therefore, Energy Efficient lighting reduces pollution.
