» Recessed Lighting Trim
There are four parts that make up a recessed light. The trim is the part of a recessed light that provides the lighting effect of the fixture. The type of effect you are wanting will dictate which trim will work best for you. Below are descriptions of the different types of trim available:
· Baffles: This type of trim traps and also shades light which minimizes glares. Baffles can also reduce the brightness of the light.
· Reflectors: The basic function of reflective trim is to maximize light output. Reflectors are wonderful trim choices for recessed lighting that will be used as general or accent lighting.
· Wall Washers: Wall washers are used to visually make rooms seem bigger. They are also used to accentuate vertical surfaces that you want to call attention to. Such as walls with pictures or fireplaces.
· Lenses and Diffusers: These types of recessed lighting trim are great options for bathroom, outdoor porches, and even closets. Basically any room that doesn’t necessarily need a lot of light. Lenses and diffusers act to diffuse light and shield the light fixture.
· Adjustable: Adjustable trim provides directional lighting. They allow the recessed light to be adjusted and work well as accent recessed lighting.
· Open: Open trims are the most affordable trims in recessed lighting. They are beautiful as well as energy efficient.
