There are a few different types of lamps available for use in recessed lighting. The lamp of a recessed light is its light bulb. This is another part that makes up a recessed light fixture.
·        “A”: This type of lamp is considered the standard light bulb in recessed lighting and can be used with reflector and lens trims. When the “A” is used with these trims the light source created is wide beamed which is best for general lighting.
·        “R”: These bulbs are used with open, baffle, or adjustable trims. They have a built in reflector and produce a smaller beam than an “A” bulb. Typically “R” bulbs are used in general, wall washing, and display lighting.
·        PAR: This lamp is used with open, baffle, and adjustable trims. Par bulbs have longer beams and a wide coverage area which makes them perfect for task and general lighting.
MR16: An MR16 bulb provides a sparkling white light and is excellent for accent lighting.
