» Troubleshooting and Repairing Fluorescent Lighting
After you have the light fixture for a while it will break down or need repairing. If so, you have to find out what to do to correct the problem. Here are some tips you can use to diagnose it properly:
· If bulb is burned out, replace it. You can’t repair bulbs.
· After replacing bulb and it is still not coming on you will need to look at the power circuit. If there is power going to the light, you may have a dead ballast on your hands.
· Before replacing the ballast, look at the old tube. If you see a very dark area at either end the bulb is defective.
· The best way to check a tube is to put it in a know working one. If the tube does not light it is dead. If it does light, you know the tube is not the problem.
· If you do have to replace the ballast, make sure it is the correct one for your light and hook it up the same way as the one you took out. If you aren’t sure, follow the diagram that came with it.
