How should I plan my Vegetable Garden?

When you are ready to start planting, first make a list of all the vegetables you want to plant and where you would like them to be in your garden. When making this list, keep in mind the unique characteristics of each vegetable. Use these characteristics to your advantage. For example, some vegetables thrive in partially shaded positions, while others require lots of sunlight. Peas, for example, grow very well in between lettuce because they do not require full sunlight at all times. This will allow you to space your garden accordingly.

Remember that a distance of 20 inches between the rows is recommended for a home garden. Vegetables such as tall peas, tomatoes, and corn should be allowed at least 2 feet between rows. This will allow plenty of growing room for each plant.

Once you know what vegetables you want to plant and where you want to put them, it is now time to start planting the garden.
