Can't I just hire my friend who is good with trees?

Hiring someone you know to attend to the trees on your property is not recommended.    Many homeowners do not want to pay the high price that comes with many tree services. This is understandable although there may be a higher price to pay when using a friend for the job. 

 

Tree services generally have acquired all of the necessary permits and licenses involved with the tree industry. It is more possible for a friend to make serious mistakes in regards to cutting and spraying your trees. The chances of using the wrong chemical application are not worth the savings. Most states require licenses to use any kind of spray insecticide or pesticide. The requirements are high because of the possible impact on the environment that may result in errors made in dosage. Therefore, not only would it be illegal for your friend to apply any kind of spray but also there is always the danger of having an accident while using heavy machinery or tools. Tree services are required to carry a minimum amount of liability insurance in order to prevent unwanted circumstances regarding fault or liability.
