Storing power equipment depends on the type of equipment owned. Safety should be considered a priority when storing power tools. The last thing anyone wants is one of the neighbor kids firing up the chainsaw.
Having a tool shed may be one of the best ways to store power equipment. A tool shed benefits the homeowner in many ways. First, it is separate from the house. Making the tool shed not easily accessible is a great idea. In addition to being separate from the house it can also be locked. Finally, it reduces clutter around the garage. Power equipment that is just thrown in the corner of the garage is an accident waiting to happen.
If a tool shed is not an option then the garage is certainly the next best thing. Again, it is recommended the home-owner take precautions by using heavy duty shelves or hooks to keep the power equipment out of the way of children.
Winterizing power equipment may be required depending where you live. The homeowner should determine what type of fuel is used for the power equipment (gasoline or two stroke fuel) and consult the manual for winter care. If the equipment calls for winterizing and it is neglected the equipment may be permanently damaged.
