» How to Take Care of Your Fence
Taking care of your fencing is the most important step in making sure that it lasts a long time. Depending on the type of fencing that you have, the maintenance requirements will be different. Always follow the instructions that come with the fencing that you purchase. The following instructions are guidelines for the four major types of fencing.
- Wooden Fencing. It is a good idea to keep wooden fences painted or stained by redoing them every three or four years. This stops the weathered look as well as keeps bugs from getting into the fence. Also remember to wash it if it needs it.
- Vinyl Fencing. There is not much upkeep for vinyl fencing. Simply wash it whenever it gets dirty.
- Chain Link Fencing. There are several key steps in maintaining a chain link fence. First of all, regularly check to make sure that there have been no splits in the wire, which can hurt people seriously if they get caught on them. Also check to make sure that the holes in the fence are not big enough for anything to get caught in.
- Bamboo Fencing. These fences require no special upkeep aside from cleaning them when needed.
