Citrine is one of the most affordable gemstones, due to the durability ad availability of this golden quartz. Because many citrines have a juicy lemon color, the name was derived from the French name for lemon, citron. Citrine includes yellow to gold to orange brown shades of transparent quartz. Citrine blends well with the yellow gleam of polished gold.

In ancient times, citrine was carried as a protection against snake venom and evil thoughts. According to folklore citrine is believed to have healing properties and helps the heart, kidney, digestive tract, liver and muscles.
