AM and PM Activity

There are many day trips that can take you beyond the confines of Rome and this is not the only city that has a history to shout about.

Located close to Rome is Ostia Antica it is classed as a Pompeii style visit by looking at outstanding ruins and whilst a volcano did not bury the city of Ostia Antica, it is equally as impressive. It is not as well known as many other places but there are plenty of amenities available to make the most of this once flourishing roman occupied city and is know today as the Roman harbour city.

To reach the city, you need to take the Metro (Line B) from Piramide or Magliana to Ostia Lido and a local train will take you the rest of the way. For just 4 euros, this will cover the costs of all travel and for this amazing price you are getting a lot for your money.

If you would like to see what this great city has to offer the cities website offers details of the history and what other activities can be done during a visit. http://www.ostia-antica.org

Top Tip: The best option when visiting Ostia Antica is to settle down during your trip with a nice picnic and look at the sights available. Always be aware to take away any litter though because it is left behind, the penalties could be quite severe, especially due to its historical interest.

Dinner

After visiting the wonderful city of Ostia Antica, it is time to find an equally impressive eatery so you can wind down and relax and decide what to see and do on your final day in the capital of Italy.

One outstanding restaurant that comes highly recommended is the L’Ambasciata d’Abruzzo restaurant and there is an excellent menu with the option to pay a little extra and as eat as much as you can manage. There is the benefit of local wines and spirits and this is one place with such a relaxing atmosphere, you may feel like you are back at home eating a meal except with more people.

Booking is highly advised and if you want to contact the restaurant then the telephone number is +39 040395050, you will find the restaurant on the Via Furlani area of Rome.
