A recent tourism trend in Florence has been the boom of bed-and-breakfast lodging options. Many travelers relish the idea of living like the Florentines for a few days, and a bed-and-breakfast can provide that experience. A stay at a bed-and-breakfast allows you an inside glimpse into the culture and wonderful interaction with the residents, something you usually won’t find at a more private hotel or inn.

It is important to keep a few things in mind. A bed-and-breakfast will provide you with an authentic experience, but that experience is not for everyone. Many of the facilities, especially the less expensive ones, are very communal, meaning shared bathrooms and close quarters. Meals are often served family style around large tables. If you are in the mood for it, it makes for a raucous good time. If you are a private person and don’t wish to make dinner conversation with strangers, you might choose a hotel that offers more privacy.

A few bed-and-breakfast options are the Residenza dei Pucci, Bed & Breakfast San Lorenzo, Bed & Breakfast Soggiorno Casa di Barbano, and the Bed & Breakfast Tra le Due Torri.
