Don't judge brokers simply by how much they charge. Some have a lot more to offer than others.
• Commissions. The price per trade at a discount broker may indicate the level of customer service. If you aren't buying and selling stocks very often and you're not too concerned about whether your trade is executed fast, there really isn't much difference between brokers who charge $7 to $20. However, you shouldn’t go much cheaper than that. And if you're paying much more than that, you should expect near-perfect service.
• Other Fees. Brokerage Firms may charge other fees, including fees for transferring assets into the account, fees for closing an account, IRA custodian fees, wire transfer fees, account inactivity fees, annual fees, and fees for not maintaining a minimum balance. Don’t end up paying for services you don’ t need.
