The public library has always been an excellent place to self-educate regarding any issue - especially personal finance. Now there's a free education program on the fundamentals of investing launching in libraries around the country, providing more opportunities than ever before.
"Investor Education @ Your Library" is a non-commercial lecture program followed by optional 1-on-1 sessions with licensed investing counselors. The program is sponsored both by the American Library Association and Investor Protection Trust.
The 90-minute seminars cover the basics of stocks, mutual funds, bonds, and savings for college or retirement. Afterward, participants can review their financial status and goals individually and/or privately.
All events are free, but registration is mandatory so that all materials can be sent beforehand consulting participants which financial statements/documents to bring for use in the sessions.
