And then comes the excited expectation of what could be in your e-mail account. You open it up and find out that you could “Make Millions from Home” or that you just “Won a New X-Box 360.” There could also be the ad from the flower store or the dietary supplement that will allow you to grow gigantic muscles without eating healthy foods or working out. I’m sure that these e-mails are so much more important than an email from your college daughter or your financial report from your bank. No. You probably see them as much of a nuisance as most other people do.
Spam has become one of the most hated things on the Internet. Spam is all of the items that are flooded into personal folders, whether e-mail or something else. You may have also heard the term “spamming,” which is the verb that means to send out a large amount of mail to a large number of people. Whether at work or at home, your e-mail box could be flooded by numerous amounts of spam mail. Since e-mail spam is the most prevalent spam out there, we will focus on that in the first question. The second question will address some of the other forms in which spam goes to people. The third answers the why question: “Why are these people sending me all this junk?” And then the final area of this article will address the ways that the spam can be blocked from your computer.
