The first negative aspect about popup advertisements is the most obvious one. They are really annoying to the computer user. When a user clicks over to a site, they may have to find their way through many of the different sites. Sometimes you can’t even tell the difference between the popup ads and the actual website that you were going to. There are many other reasons that popup advertisements may annoy you; most will be discussed in the rest of the article.
The second negative aspect about popup ads is the possible access to your computer that these companies have. Most companies are simply just trying to get their name out there and sell their products, but there are few companies that are trying to work a scam as well. These companies may be trying to sell their services to get a hold of checking account or credit card company numbers. The company may also have other ways of affecting you: viruses. A company may divert you to their site so that they can allow you to download a program, which has a virus attached to it. These are very uncommon, but you probably do not want to take the chance.
The third negative aspect about popup advertisements is the way that they affect your processing speed. Computers want to work as fast as they can, and that usually isn’t fast enough for us. When 9 or 10 popup advertisements show up on the screen of your computer, it tends to slow down the processing speed of your computer. This is just another practical reason to look into the programs that offer popup blocking. Another negative aspect about popup advertisements is that they sometimes bring popup ads on your screen that you don’t want to see. For example if your children, or yourself, are looking at a video game site, a pornographic popup ad may appear on your screen that shows images that you don’t want there.
