One way you can be safe when working with your computer is by having a firewall installed on your computer. A firewall is a barrier of some type that prevents any type of destructive or damaging force from getting through. In some cases, a firewall can be a computer. In most cases those it is a software program, designed in such a way to trap unwanted signals. So just how does the firewall work? Consider this:
· What it does – As explained briefly above, a firewall is a program or hardware device that is used to filter information that comes through an Internet connection into your network, be it private or part of a computer system.
· Networks – Imagine a network that is set up with no firewall. Hackers could get through and control the network easily. Even viruses could get through.
· Kinds of Protection – Unfortunately, there are many unscrupulous people who have nothing better to do than to cause problems to people who are connected to a network. However, by having a firewall you are protected from operating system bugs, email bombs, viruses, spam, and more.
