Internet content filters can be found through a number of different avenues. The first is through the Internet browser that you are currently using. Whether the browser is Explorer, Navigator, Safari, or Mozilla, you should be able to set certain filter levels through the Internet options button. This will give you the content slide bar function, but you probably will not be able to set passwords or have a report sent to your email address. There is also a lot of free accountability software that is coming out on the Internet. These programs are linked to certain websites and do not block websites, but simply make a log of questionable sites. These sites then are emailed daily or weekly to your boss, friend, or parent.

The other option is to buy a subscription to a certain Internet content filter. The reason I say subscription is that you usually are unable to buy an eternal license to the filter. You usually pay a month at a time, but are able to download some of the best programs out there. These programs are increasingly accurate and have customer service that is amazing. They have full-time workers that update the definitions on sites, and the customization of what you want to block and not block is remarkable. If you don’t want pornography and drug use, but are okay with games and web-based email accounts then they can do that. Some of these companies are also tied to certain faith communities, which allow them to help with decisions made on what is good for your children and what is not.
