Internet content filters block a number of questionable materials that you may not want others to see on a computer or computer system that you are responsible for. Most Internet content filters are able to block sites that promote pornography, violence, hate crimes, and drug use. These filters cut out much of the content that a family with small children does not want to expose their children to.
There are also Internet content filters that block even alcohol consumption, tobacco use, personal dating services, or any kind of sexual topics. Though some employees may view these sites while they are at home, at least while they are at work (and working on your equipment) you can control where they go on the web.
Family content and Internet content filters may also block out sites that deal with chat rooms, games, and web-based email sites. All three of these can prevent your co-workers from using their time at work unwisely. Also this protects your children from giving away personal information to potential Internet predators. This is extremely important as people have moved on to more sophisticated ways of stalking people. This will also protect the integrity of your computer by not exposing it to sites that may run rampant with Internet viruses.
