You cannot simply buy the software, hardware, and employ the right people and then let the status quo continue. Technology is going to change, so you must change with it as well. The first is to update those definitions. This is probably one of the top reasons that viruses will get into a home or corporate computer. By not updating your current definitions, your computer does not even realize that a certain file is actually a virus.
A second simple tip is to look at the condition of some of your hardware. Battery backup testing is very easy and increasingly important for the integrity and availability of your information. You can also check out the condition of your firewall for hardware errors.
Another way you can help your firewall is to check on the software customization. All firewalls come with connected software that allows you to review what your firewall is filtering and then adjust the levels of your filters. Stay up to date on what your firewall is doing so that you can see what needs to be changed. Also keep your employees continually educated on new changes in network security. Network security must be a team effort.
