Rollerblade, Inc. took a survey a few years ago to find out where the best places to skate are in the United States. Here are the winners, in no particular order:

• The Lakes, Minnesota: Here you will find a ten mile path with great views of the skyline of Minneapolis. The path takes you around Lake Calhoun and the Lake of the Isles.
• Lakefront Path, Chicago: Another lakefront venue that parallels famous Lakeshore Drive and Lake Michigan. The 18 mile path takes you to the South Side of Chicago. When the weather is nice, enjoy the Navy Pier and outdoor entertainment.
• Fort Lauderdale, FL: Moving from lakefront to beachfront, this area doesn’t boast of a great distance in the path (only a mile and a half long), but it does boast of great fun. Bars, restaurants and the beautiful beach make this an exciting place to inline skate.
• The Strand, Pacific Palisades, CA: This is a beach front skating area that is seen all the time on TV and in the movies. The path passes through “Muscle Beach”, Marina del Mar, Venice Beach, Santa Monica, and Redondo Beach.
• Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA: Another scenic area close to the water with magnificent views of the Golden Gate Bridge.
• Fairmont Park, Philadelphia, PA: This park features an 8 mile path that is considered great for both beginners and those who love speed.
• Veloway at Circle C, Austin, TX: This area feature both a 3.1 mile loop and a 1 mile loop with beautiful wildlife.
• Boulder Creek Path, Boulder, CO: Boulder is a fun outdoor town in general, and this six mile path offers fun diversions, including the Red Rock’s/Settler’s Park.
• Rock Creek Park, Washington, DC: Beach Drive is a two mile trail and the Capital Crescent Trail is a ten mile trail that takes you from Georgetown to Bethesda, Maryland.
• Central Park, New York, NY: The New York City skyline and all the festivities of Central Park make this 6 mile loop a favorite for thousands.
