As the bar swept across my screen, I freaked out. The words, “Deleting all files,” are displayed below them. What am I going to do? Then I heard the snicker from behind, and noticed my friend laughing at my reaction to the joke that he played on me. I breathed a sigh of relief because I knew that it was all a joke. But what if this wasn’t a joke? What if you stepped up to your computer and it was completely dead and you couldn’t get to your files – or if you sat down one day and all your files were gone but your computer was working correctly as if nothing had happened.

We always hear the jokes about one document being deleted as the power goes out, but what if all the documents you have are gone in the blink of an eye? Will you simply take it in stride or totally go crazy trying every hot-key sequence you know to try to get them back. Data deletion can happen because of hardware failure, software malfunctions, or through the use of specific viruses programs by others. In any of these cases, you are at the mercy of your computer and just want everything to go back to normal.

There are many questions relating to Data Recovery. Is your information able to be recovered? You never want this to happen, but is there anything you can do to prevent this from being an emergency next time? And now that your data is back in its rightful place, is there anything you should do differently?
