There are many types of electronic devices, equipment, or products you can manufacture. By this means you have all the equipment in place to produce those products. But what if you are just starting out in electronics manufacturing? What if you just bought a plant and are setting up shop for the first time and what an idea as to what is involved in manufacturing electronic products? The term now is semiconductor manufacturing. Here are some basic terms you will need to know before getting into the subject.

• Overview: In order to know about how to get into semiconductor manufacturing, you need to understand what it is before you can get set up for it. Having a deep understanding of what is involved helps you to better handle the idea of semiconductor manufacturing, so as to create the environment and put in place the right tools, equipment, and components to get the job done.
• Clean Rooms: If you will have a facility where you’ll be producing semiconductors, you will need a clean room. This is a special type of room that is clean and sealed air tight so as not to allow any dirt or dust to enter into it. The ventilation system is unique in the way it brings in air but blows out air as well.
• Photolithography: When a manufacturing facility creates boards for use in electronic products, they don’t just make one board, they make several. With this being the case, they must have a way to reproduce the etching surface of the each board exactly as the previous board was made. This is done with special equipment known as photolithography machines.
• Semiconductor Equipment: When manufacturing semiconductors, you aren’t going to have your normal machinery as you would see in any manufacturing facility. You need specialized equipment that will allow you to create semiconductors. This equipment will be calibrated to perform the functions as required to produce semiconductors.
• Silicon Wafers: In order to produce any type of semiconductor material you need silicon to do this. Most silicon comes in wafers that you manipulate to form a shape or mode for what you want to create. The beginning of semiconductor creation is in silicon.
