a. Shrink-wrap- Shrink-wrap is a thin plastic film used to cover retail products. The item is typically completely enclosed in a plastic film.
b. Bag Sealers- Bag sealers are used in almost every aspect of packaging. There are several types of bag sealers: manual sealers, automatic sealers, and form fill and seal packaging machinery. All are labor saving devices.
c. Bundling- The equipment used in bundling functions to hold large amounts of materials together. The items are packaged with plastic film and are only partially enclosed.
d. Blister Packaging- Blister packaging works by using a rigid PVC shell attached to a piece of foil or a thin board to enclose a product.
e. Skin Packaging- Skin packaging is a process which forms a tight sheet of vacuumed film over a product. It is usually backed with cardboard on one side and the film on the other. It is typically used on machine tools, instruments, or anything else that needs to be held securely to a card.
f. Vacuum Forming- Vacuum forming is the process by which they make the blister in blister packs. It is also used to make clam shells.
g. Vacuum Sealing- Vacuum sealing functions to modify the atmosphere inside a bag. It is used primarily for packaging food and electronincs.
h. Scales and Filling- Scales and filling are usually used when packaging
coffee,
coffee beans, beans, seeds, parts, or candy. They save labor by perfectly portioning products.
i. Taping Systems- Taping systems are used on boxes and cartons to save on labor. They are usually incorporated into packaging lines.
j. Pallet Wrap- Pallet wrap is a stretchy cling wrap that is used to wrap items on a pallet. It is not the same as shrink wrap or bundling film.
k. Orbital Wrappers- Orbital wrappers are used to wrap long items such as pipes and timber. They are different from pallet wraps.
