Industrial magnets include a varied number of products to lift materials, sweep floor or road surfaces, remove debris and separate items in the manufacturing process. They are commonly found in industrial centers. Sweepers can be attached to vehicles and forklifts and are used to remove metal objects that can damage equipment or cause flat tires. One practical application for a sweeper is airport terminals and runways. They can be very useful at just about any work site. Different types of magnetic sweepers are available, depending on the type of terrain. Sweepers can also come in smaller sizes and operate much like a hand-held broom.

Industrial magnets are commonly used to remove debris in the manufacturing process. They have the capability of removing large iron materials, such as drill bits. Plate magnets, overhead separators, and stationary separators employ the same principles to rid different types of manufactured items of their unwanted ferrous components. Some industrial magnets are designed not to remove debris, but to move or lift items. These are used in all types of industries and are even used underwater! Some of the means of using magnetism to move objects include conveyor belts, palletizers and depalletizers, sheet fanners and separators, and special types of magnetic mechanical arms that have the capacity of picking up large items like car frames. There are also electromagnetic devices that require an electric current for immediate on/off capabilities. This is useful when handling such materials like sheet metal and can be custom made to fit odd shaped applications.
