In fact, you have probably seen a boom lift at some time while driving down the road. The two top manufacturers of this piece of equipment are Genie and JLG. Because boom lifts can be used for so many different things, there are several different types, depending on what type of work you wish to do with them. Before you purchase a boom lift, you should know the requirements of the various projects your company will be completing. You may even want to consult with an architect or a construction manager to make sure you have the boom lift that will meet your needs.
If you are doing small, detailed projects, such as painting the outside of a peculiarly shaped building, you will want an articulating boom lift. If you are working at significant heights, for example, repairing or installing windows on a tall building, you will want a tall stick boom. These have less flexibility, but are able to extend higher. If you need movement at the base of the boom lift, a trailer mounted boom lift is the best choice. This type of boom lift allows the boom to be maneuvered while maintaining the safety of onboard personnel. Be sure that when you choose a boom lift, you have taken into the consideration the needs of the projects you will be performing. Doing so will provide a safe work environment for the crew.
