Document scanning is used in industries as a way to capture information including bar codes, schematics, graphs, or other types of documents that must be captured and recorded. This procedure is also referred to as document imaging. Document imaging uses a digital scanner to take information and generate a digital representation of the image being recorded. It then gets stored in a computer system for later retrieval. An example as to how this is used could be when one department scans a document or graph of some type to be sent to another department for processing.
