The one factor regarding manufacturing facilities and automating their industrial processes is the use of conveyors. Conveyors are used extensively to carry parts from one workstation to another. There are many types of conveyors utilized in the factory. One type may be a gravity-roller conveyor. This one consists of a series of parallel rollers that are fastened to a metal frame. Another type that is used quite often in factories is the belt conveyor. This is made of fabric, rubber, plastic, leather, or metal, depending on purpose and design considerations. The belt is usually made to go into a continuous loop, being supported by rollers or some type of metal slider pan. Electric motors are used to power the movement of the conveyor.
