AM and PM Activities
If you have not seen many history sights then I recommend visiting at least one before it is too late. Illinois is a major state in terms of the history on offer and one place I would definitely visit is the home of 16th president Abraham Lincoln who spent many years in the Springfield area of Illinois.
The house dates back to around 1840 and you can still see the features from this era and it gives a kick to history by seeing how important people like Abraham Lincoln once lived. There is no entry to the house and there is the added benefit of browsing through the parks within the same vicinity.
Dinner
Whilst you are in the Springfield area, why not stay and try one of the many restaurants on offer that can provide an excellent meal and good finish to your busy day.
Springfield has many varieties of cuisine available from traditional American to Greek and Italian meals. The Café Brio on East Monroe Street specializes in Spanish and other European cuisine and prices are reasonable price and at weekends, it is essential that you make a reservation. You can contact the café on 217.544.0574.
