Part of Icelandic culture is the nightlife which is well-known for its vivacious nature, and the heavy presence of clubs, cinemas, and cafes in all big towns supports this reputation. However, this vibrant social atmosphere is not all about partying; it is also a cultured approach to high-class entertainment. Iceland has three top theatres – the National Theatre, the Reykjavik City Theatre and the Akureyri Municipal Theatre that are always being visited. Their top-rate Iceland Symphony Orchestra performs concerts weekly for much of the year, and throughout the country a performance known as “Light Nights,” a play based traditional Icelandic stories and songs, is given for tourists.
